Vinted Shoppers Share Frustration Over Sizing Changes

Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.

The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Modifications

Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
